Biomed Realty 400 Fairview Utility Package

Biomed Realty was in the process of prepping their site for the development of a new life science building in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.  They needed help coordinating the utility package for power and communication services to their new building.

The challenge was that this particular area was under a long term goal of transitioning from overheard radial to underground network power service from the utility and needed to prep for both situations without knowing when the actual transition would take place.  Additionally the site needed to maintain and improve access for the various communication providers in the neighborhood with little previous pathway coordination across public right of ways and significant arterial roads.

Pacific PM was brought in to oversee the coordination between with Seattle City Light, multiple communication service providers, department of transportation, the project design teams and contractors.    This included detailing out the exact installation requirements; establishing the demarcation of responsibilities between all parties; negotiating a sizable credit to the client for installing future network infrastructure which benefited the all surrounding property owners for future development; and overseeing the costs and schedule for implementing the work.
